News That Upsets Star Wars Fans! Darth Vader Dies
Actor David Prowse, who gave life to Darth Vader in the Star Wars trilogy, has died aged 85
Actor David Prowse, who played Darth Vader in the Star Wars trilogy, one of the legendary white screen series, has died.
Regarding the actor's death, Prowse's manager Thomas Bowington said, " May the power be with him, always. It's a truly and deeply heartbreaking loss for us and millions of fans around the world," he said. Prowse appeared in more than 50 films during his career, including the series Doctor Who (1963-1989) and the film automatic Orange (A Clockwork Orange).
Born in Bristol in 1935 and a three-time British Weightlifting Champion, Prowse made his film debut in 1967 with the film 'Casino Royale'. The actor, who starred in Stanley Kubrick's cult film A Clockwork Orange, also coached Christopher Reeve for the role of Spearman.
He auditioned for the role of both Darth Vader and Chewbacca for George Lucas's film Star Wars, which changed the course of cinema history. He was suitable for both roles. Dave Prowse opted for the role of Darth Vader, cinema's most recognizable 'villain', saying" villains are more remembered".
In the second film of the original Star Wars series 'Empire Strike back, the memorable "I'm your father" scene had Prowse in a Darth Vader costume, but the voice was that of American actor James Earl Jones. For the face of Vader, who appears in the sixth film Return of the Jedi, series creator George Lucas chose Sebastian Shaw, not Dave Prowse. Lucas and Prowse were well apart in the following years. In 2010, Dave Prowse was banned from appearing at all official Star Wars events.
