Shocking Nagorno-Karabakh claim from Reuters: Turkey, Russia at odds over the vantage point

The Reuters news agency cited a critical claim about Nagorno-Karabakh in its report, which included statements from a Turkish source. Turkey has demanded an independent military outpost, while Russia opposes it, the agency said in its report.

Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia had ended weeks of fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh under a ceasefire announced on November 10. According to the ceasefire agreement, about 2 thousand Russian peacekeepers will be deployed to the Nagorno-Karabakh region.

"TURKEY AND RUSSIA DID NOT AGREE," HE CLAIMED

According to Reuters, Turkey and Russia will jointly monitor the ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh, claiming there was disagreement between Turkey and Russia. "The biggest reason for the disagreement at the moment is the observation point that Turkey will set up on Azerbaijani territory," a Turkish source told the agency." Russia believes it is unnecessary for Turkey to establish its own observation post independent of the joint observation center in the region. However, this (step) is necessary for Turkey," he said. The Turkish source said that talks with Russia will continue and that Turkey hopes to reach a compromise with Russia.

WHAT HAPPENED THERE?

The tension between Azerbaijan and Armenia, which invaded Nagorno-Karabakh in September, soon turned into a conflict. Hundreds of people were killed in the area, and there was a significant development. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that he and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Russian President Vladimir Putin had signed a joint statement on the ceasefire, saying it was "painful" for him and the Armenian people. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said: "this declaration ends the long-standing occupation. It shows that the areas of Lachin and Kelbajar will be returned without bloodshed," he said.
