U.S. outbreak has worsened in the last two weeks: an average of two people per minute are losing their lives
The U.S. coronavirus balance sheet is getting heavier every day. In the United States, where more than 270 thousand people have died since the beginning of the epidemic, an average of two people have died per minute in the last fifteen days.
The Advisory Committee on vaccination practices (ACIP), which operates under the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the United States, where about one in five cases occur in the world and near the limit of fourteen million cases, released its latest coronavirus report. When coronavirus cases began, the White House announced that the United States would survive coronavirus, killing between 100 thousand and 240 thousand people. May was November's worst estimate, while the lower limit of that figure was exceeded.
IT'S UP 20 PERCENT IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS
The report said that in the country, which exceeds the death limit of 271 thousand, an average of one person per minute has died since the start of the virus. The figure has risen by 20 percent in the past two weeks, approaching an average of two deaths per minute.
THE VACCINE WILL BE DISTRIBUTED BEFORE CHRISTMAS
U.S. Health Secretary Alex Azar said work on the vaccine developed against Covid-19 has come to an end. Azar announced that the distribution of Moderna vaccines with Pfizer-Biontech, developed against coronavirus, will begin before the beginning of the year. Azar noted that Pfizer, which has previously applied for approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), as well as Moderna, which has yet to file a new application, expects to receive approval. Vaccines developed against coronavirus in the US will be distributed primarily to health workers and those who remain in elderly nursing homes, it has been reported. The committee will reconvene in the following days to decide who will take part in the second priority group.
THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO WILL BE VACCINATED FIRST IS 24 MILLION
The number of the two groups in question is about 24 million in the United States, while it is noted that it will take the spring months for the vaccine to be delivered to everyone in the country with a population of 330 million.
