Hours before the swearing-in ceremony of the new US President, Joe Biden, Washington is on edge

Heavy security is underway in the capital, Washington, DC, just before the swearing-in ceremony of 46th President Joe Biden following the attack on the US congressional building. More than 25 thousand National Guardsmen were deployed in the area, which was undergoing security screening by the FBI, while the rehearsal of the swearing-in ceremony was postponed for security reasons.

Supporters of President Donald Trump stormed the building during a joint session of Congress held to finalize the election result by registering their vote on January 6. Five people were killed in the incidents, the second time Trump has been fired. U.S. security officials are concerned that a similar attack was staged during Biden's swearing-in ceremony on Wednesday. Trump supporters, including some far-right, armed, and radical groups who believe in the supremacy of the White Race, believe that the election was contaminated with irregularities. But no findings have been found to support allegations of irregularities in the investigations to date, and all of the lawsuits Trump has filed in different states and the Supreme Court related to the election results have been against him.

WHAT MEASURES HAVE BEEN TAKEN IN THE CAPITAL, WASHINGTON?

Roads in and around the National Mall Park around the congressional building were closed. Barricades have been set up around the White House.A rehearsal for the swearing-in ceremony, scheduled for Monday, was postponed due to security concerns. Heavy security has been put in place in the capitals of all 50 US states as radical groups call for action. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has warned that armed groups may take action in state capitals. More than 25 thousand National Guardsmen were deployed to ensure security. The FBI has conducted a security sweep of soldiers who will serve in the security of the swearing-in ceremony in Washington.

WHAT IS SCHEDULED TO HAPPEN ON WEDNESDAY? 

Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris will officially begin their duties by taking the oath of office on a private platform set up in front of the congressional building, toward the National Mall. Biden is scheduled to be sworn in at noon local time (TSI 20: 00). Harris's oath is expected to be just before Biden. Traditionally, about 100 thousand people are invited to the swearing-in ceremonies of presidents. Biden will be sworn in and give a speech in which he will announce his presidential priorities immediately after he officially becomes president. The ceremony also includes poetry, prayer, and recitation of the oath of allegiance to the flag.

LADY GAGA WILL PERFORM THE NATIONAL ANTHEM

The country's national anthem will be performed by its famous song Lady Gaga. Another famous singer, Jennifer Lopez, will also perform a mini concert. Trump announced that, contrary to tradition, Biden would not attend the swearing-in ceremony. But all other living former presidents are expected to be present at the ceremony. First Lady Melania Trump released a farewell message via her Twitter account on Monday evening. Under Normal circumstances, it is a tradition for the new president to visit the old one at the White House and have a brief conversation before the swearing-in ceremony. During that interview, the former First Lady was expected to give the new White House a White House Tour.But this time, Trump's announcement that he will not meet with Biden and leave the White House early in the morning means that tradition will also be broken. For Wednesday evening, a program was also prepared, which will be hosted by Oscar-winning actor Tom Hanks, and will be broadcast live on many channels.
