Bank robbery like a movie in Brazil

Heavily armed robbers in Brazil have robbed multiple bank branches. The thieves, who clashed with police, also scattered some of the money they stole on the streets as they fled.

In Brazil, there was a robbery like a movie. Heavily armed robbers in the city of Criciuma, in the province of Santa Catarina, attacked several bank branches in the city during the morning. The attackers entered the city with about 10 vehicles at 02: 00 local time, setting fire to several vehicles and closing the tunnel that provides access to the city in order to prevent the intervention of the security forces. Attackers stormed 4 bank branches in about 2 hours, blowing up ATMs.

After the robbery, the attackers managed to escape the city, and some of the money they stole was scattered on the streets. At least 4 people who tried to collect money from the streets were detained by the police; the police managed to save an estimated 150 thousand dollars.

The attackers used them as live Shields, taking hostage municipal workers who painted crosswalks during a shootout with police. 1 police officer and 2 people were injured in the shootout.

Criciuma Mayor Clesio Salvaro said in a statement that the attackers released the workers while ordering the police not to shoot at the attackers for the safety of the public. "I ask you to stay at home, not to leave the house, and to take all precautions. Tell your families and friends. Let the police do their job," he said.

A similar robbery took place last year in Sao Paulo, Brazil's largest city. About 20 thieves had blown up several ATMs. 11 attackers were neutralized in a shootout with police who arrived at the scene.
